Job description

Private Associate
  • 3.5 days per week
  • Must include Tuesday afternoon and evening, plus alternate Saturday mornings when the practice is open. Other days are negotiable 45–50% split (dependant on gross income)
  • 190 stable Practice Plan members, generating a guaranteed income of around £1,200 per month
  • Extremely high earning potential – full details available on application
  • Must have a minimum 5 years experience providing private dental care
  • We’re particularly keen to hear from candidates with an additional special interest, such as aesthetic dentistry (composite bonding, aligner systems), endodontics or dental implants
NHS Associate
  • 2 days per week
  • Ideally Thursday and Friday
  • Must have a minimum 2-3 years experience providing
  • NHS dental care
  • 3,600 UDA per year at £14 per UDA
  • Stable, established patient list
  • Strong practice efficiency supported by experienced dental therapists

About us

Thornhill Dental is a family-run practice, founded in 1987 by Graeme and Jenny Tattersfield. Over the years, we’ve built a strong reputation for providing utstanding dental care alongside exceptional patient service. We continually invest in our facilities to ensure every visit is as comfortable and modern as possible.

From a single-surgery practice, we’ve grown over 38 years into a nine-treatment-room clinic, offering a wide range of dental services. Our supportive team of dental associates has a variety of special interests, including implants, Invisalign, facial aesthetics, cosmetic dentistry, TMJ, endodontics, and minor oral surgery.

The practice management team is led by James and Aimee Tattersfield, with Karen
Douglas, Katie Wallwork and Petra Wingrove alongside them. They play a key role in supporting the smooth running of the practice, ensuring both patients and staff receive the highest standard of care. Together, the management team fosters a personal, supportive, and collaborative environment, helping everyone in Team TD grow, succeed, and enjoy their work.

While Graeme and Jenny are now enjoying a semi-retired life, Graeme retired from
clinical dentistry in June 2022 and continues to offer his invaluable experience and guidance as our Clinical Lead. Their ongoing involvement ensures the practice benefits from their expertise while staying true to the values and legacy they’ve built.

Privately owned by the Tattersfield family since 1987, Thornhill Dental are proud to be an independent practice and not part of any corporate group. Team TD

At Thornhill Dental, our commitment goes beyond dental care – we care about the well-being of our patients, our team, and our community. Through our Team TD Together initiative, we actively support local charities, community projects, and causes close to our hearts.

In December 2024, we hosted our 4th Tea & Talk event, welcoming patients, families, and the wider community for tea, mince pies, and friendly conversation. The aim was to create a safe, welcoming space for connection, especially for those who may feel lonely or isolated. That same month, our Christmas Collection helped local children and families in need, with generous donations from our patients, friends, and team.

Every employed team member receives a fully paid day each year to volunteer for a charity or community project of their choice. Recently, our team supported Rainbow Baby Bank and Ravensthorpe Community Centre, making a tangible difference locally.

We’re also proud to celebrate our international impact. In June 2025, our dentist Leena travelled to Egypt, providing urgent dental care to children and adults with limited access to treatment. Her incredible work overseas shows how far Team TD’s care can reach, creating smiles across the world.

Later this year, our Dental Therapist Holly will be climbing Mount Kilimanjaro for Prostate Cancer UK, taking on an extraordinary challenge to raise awareness and funds for a vital cause.

Through initiatives like these, Team TD strives to create smiles not just on faces, but in hearts too – locally, nationally, and internationally.

Dentist and patient
Thornhill Dental is able to accept referrals for Orthopantomogram x-rays from other dental practitioners. Referrals can be made on a private basis or NHS basis (if the patient is undergoing NHS treatment at their own practice).
