Hyperhidrosis treatment

What is hyperhidrosis?

Hyperhidrosis is a medical condition that causes excessive sweating, often unrelated to body temperature or physical exertion. It can be a source of embarrassment and discomfort, impacting your daily life, work, and social interactions. At Thornhill Dental, we can help with injections of Botulinum toxin to stop the sweat glands from becoming overly stimulated and reduce excess perspiration.

What does the treatment involve?

We start with a consultation with you. We ask about your excessive sweating and the areas that are most affected, and make sure you are suitable for treatment. We explain the process in detail and gain your informed consent to continue.

Using a fine needle, we administer muscle-relaxing injections into the areas of excess perspiration. This may be your armpit, palm of your hand, sole of your foot, or another area. The procedure is simple and quick. It temporarily blocks the nerve signals that stimulate your sweat glands, significantly reducing perspiration.

The effects of the treatment typically last anywhere between 6 and 24 months, and individual results may vary. Over time, your body’s natural nerve signals will gradually recover, and sweat production may return to normal levels. We can provide top-up treatments to prolong your results.
