What is Sleepwell and how does it help with snoring and sleep apnoea?

Sleepwell is a leading clinical solution designed to treat habitual snoring and mild-to-moderate Obstructive Sleep Apnoea (OSA). Here is how it works:

  • Custom-made precision: Unlike generic “boil-and-bite” aids, Sleepwell is a bespoke Mandibular Advancement Splint (MAS), custom-fitted to your mouth for maximum comfort.
  • Targeted airway support: The device works by gently holding your lower jaw in a forward position while you sleep.
  • Prevents tissue collapse: By securing the jaw, it prevents the soft tissues at the back of the throat from collapsing into the airway.
  • Eliminates noise: This forward positioning keeps the airway open and clear, stopping the vibrations that create the sound of snoring.
  • Clinically effective: It is widely considered one of the most successful options for long-term snoring prevention and improved sleep quality.

How Sleepwell treatment works

Choosing the right solution for a restful night’s sleep can feel overwhelming, but the Sleepwell device is designed with your comfort as the top priority. As the most patient-friendly and clinically proven device of its kind, it works as an advanced way to stop snoring by keeping your airway open and unobstructed all night long. Many of our patients find it incredibly easy to adjust to, thanks to a soft inner lining that led to a 98% acceptance rate in clinical trials. Unlike other devices that can feel bulky or uncomfortable, Sleepwell uses slim internal fixings that allow your lips to close naturally, which helps prevent that frustrating “dry mouth” feeling in the morning.

Beyond just quietening your sleep, the design also acts as a protective shield for your teeth by preventing grinding and clenching throughout the night. While you may have already tried lifestyle changes like sleeping on your side or cutting back on evening drinks without much success, a professional dental solution is often the missing piece of the puzzle. Our team is proud to offer the Sleepwell Mandibular Advancement Splint, a custom-made mouthguard that gently supports your jaw to ensure you breathe easily and wake up feeling truly refreshed.

What to expect during your Sleepwell assessment and fitting

During your initial visit, we’ll start by having a friendly chat about your sleep patterns and overall dental health to ensure Sleepwell is the right fit for you. If you’re a good candidate, we will take a highly accurate digital scan or impression of your teeth. This is a quick, painless process that allows us to create a device tailored specifically to your unique smile.

Once your bespoke Sleepwell device is ready, you’ll return for a fitting appointment where we’ll show you how to use it and make any tiny adjustments to ensure it feels perfectly comfortable. Our goal is to make the process as seamless as possible so you can start enjoying quieter, more restful nights right away.

The Sleepwell treatment process is simple and ensures that your custom-made snoring mouthpiece is comfortable and effective:

  1. Pre-Screening: You must first complete the mandatory pre-screening questionnaire (see the final section) to check your initial suitability for the Sleepwell Anti Snoring Device.
  2. Clinical Assessment: Andy Wallwork conducts a comprehensive examination to clinically confirm your suitability, reviews your medical history, and discusses your expectations.
  3. Appliance Fabrication: Custom impressions or digital scans are taken of your teeth to ensure your device is perfectly tailored to your mouth.
  4. Fitting & Instruction: You return for the fitting of your final Sleepwell device. Andy will adjust the appliance for maximum comfort and instruct you on its use and maintenance.
