Healthy smiles for Dewsbury’s brightest stars

At our practice, we believe that every child deserves a healthy, confident smile, without their parents having to worry about the cost. As a deeply rooted part of the Dewsbury community, we don’t just work here; we live here, support local charities, and care for our neighbours.

That is why we are incredibly proud to provide free NHS dental care for all children and teens under 18 years of age.

From their very first baby tooth to their teenage years, our friendly team is here to make coming to the dentist a fun, stress-free adventure. We treat your little ones like family, because to us, that is exactly what our community is.

Caring for your kids’ teeth at home

You can look after your baby’s new teeth and gums by gently wiping them with a clean, damp cloth or flannel. As more little teeth begin to pop through, switch to a super-soft baby toothbrush and a tiny smear of fluoride toothpaste.

From age 3 and upwards, you can move up to using a pea-sized amount of toothpaste. Aim to brush their teeth for two minutes, twice a day, making sure one of those times is right before bedtime. To help them stay focused and build a great habit, you can make it fun by using a colourful two-minute sand timer or a playful tooth-brushing app.

Children usually need a little help and supervision with brushing until they are around seven or eight years old. Once they are ready to brush entirely on their own, it is still a great idea to check their brushing technique every now and then just to make sure they are still doing a thorough job and keeping those smiles healthy!

What does a children’s dental appointment involve?

Bringing your child to the dentist shouldn't feel like a mystery trip! We make sure our appointments are relaxed, gentle, and entirely paced around how your child is feeling on the day.
Here is exactly what happens when you bring your little one in to see us:

We start by letting your child explore the chair and get comfortable. We’ll chat about their favourite hobbies or school to break the ice and build trust before we even look at their teeth.
